The name “Adam” transliterated into Tengwar by Tolkien language scholar and translator Fiona Jallings of RealElvish.net. This is a transliteration of the name, NOT a translation. The writing system is being changed, not the language.
The mode used is an English orthographic Ómatehtar mode. This means that the mode is based on how English names are spelled, as though we’ve been using Tengwar all along instead of the Latin Alphabet. The Ómatehtar part means that this mode is an Abugida, and the vowels are little marks called “tehtar” over the consonants.
The selection of names is based on the USA’s Social Security Administration’s report of the most popular names for the last 100 years. Plus some of Fiona’s relatives’ names because she wants to give these shirts as Christmas presents.
The artwork is by her wife, Sophia.
This t-shirt is made of a thicker, heavier cotton, but it’s still soft and comfy. And the double stitching on the neckline and sleeves add more durability to what is sure to be a favorite!
• 100% ringspun cotton
